On Sunday 12th May 18 Non-Chinese Students from La Salle College left for a Chinese Language emersion programme to Taiwan. The host school is Tamkang Senior High School (淡江中学). Tamkang Senior High School is 100 years old with a Canadian Presbyterian heritage and is one of the top private Bilingual Learning Institutions in Taiwan and has the most successful Bilingual Programme in Northern Taiwan. Hong Kong Young Mathematical High Achievers Selection Contest

The La Salle College Math Team were awarded 2nd Place Overall in the Hong Kong Young Mathematical High Achievers Selection Contest organized by Po Leung Kuk. All team members were awarded a First Class Honours in the Individual Section of the competition. Congratulations to Ms Luk and teachers of the Math Team. The team and individual winners were:

On Friday the 4th of May the La Salle College Parent Teacher Association (PTA) hosted Dr TONG Chong Sze Secretary General of the Hong Kong Examination and Assessment Authority (HKEAA) on the new Hong Kong Diploma of Education (HKDSE). A Visit from Foothill & de Anza Colleges, San Francisco

Mr George Beers from Admissions at Foothill College visited La Salle College on Monday 13th May. A number of boys form La Salle College have gone on to Foothill College in San Francisco in the last few years and then transferred after their second year, to various elite Universities across the United States, to complete their degree. Chinese and English Debating Competition Results

Joint School Chinese Debating Competition
Saturday 11th May the La Salle College Chinese Debating Team won the 2nd Round of the Joint School Chinese Debating Competition and will go on to the 3rd and Final Round in late June to defend their title won last year.
Lions Club Chinese Debating Competition
The La Salle College Chinese Debating team also won their semi-final of the Lions Club Debating Competition and will go to the Final on the 6th June at Plaza Hollywood.
Sing Tao English Debating Competition
The La Salle College English Debating Team lost their semi-final debate and came 3rd Overall in the Sing Tao English Debating Competition 2012-2013.
Well done to all teams. The College wishes the Chinese Debating Team well as they continue working hard in the two competitions still running. Thank you to teachers and old boy coaches and supporters. |
